Attire in front of Customers

Business attire can either make or break a deal and give a positive or negative message to your customers. when meeting with customers, dress as well as or better than your customer is dressed. Again this refers to being respectful as well as professional, and dress for the job you want and not the job you have.

Dressing Respectfuly

The main importance of proper casual attire is respect. show respect to you, your staff, and your management by avoiding over sized shirts, jean shorts, cut-offs, tank-top shirts, halter tops, sheer clothes, exposed bra straps, and short dresses. It is also important to make sure your clothes fit well, are maintained, and suit you in style.

Company Attire

Find out what your company allows you to wear at work. ask if there are dress-down days and observe what others wear on casual dress days. If the company has no casual dress days, suggest the idea with management with examples of guidelines and and illustrations of casual attire.

Dressing For Job Interviews

It is important that a person who is attending an interview for a new job must dress the part and present themselves in a positive manner. For job interviews, dress conservatively or call ahead to ask the interviewer what is the appropriate attire for the interview.

Changes in Dress Standards

The workplace has changed over the years with its views of appropriate attire and how to be presented as a professional business person. The mid to late 1990s had many workers adopt a very casual appearance which was being performed by high tech or Internet companies who wanted to throw away traditon and make the workplace more relaxing. Casual Dress was also performed to help employee morale, but some had strong opinions about workers being sloppy with there attire and dressing for "the job they have rather than the job they want". Business Casual has been adopted in the 2000s by giving employees the ability to be comfortable while dressing professionaly such as a simple dress shirt with dress pants without wearing a tie or a full suit.
